Do you like being scared? Are you a lover of movies about enchanted houses? Then you'll love this Escape Game.
Welcome to the House of Terror, a hair-raising adventure that'll make your pulse quicken dangerously.
In this article, we'll show you how to edit this template so that your audience can try to escape from this horrible nightmare... if they can... muuuhahahaha!
In this Escape Room you'll be able to edit:
1. Start Page
This page will work as a portal and an introduction to the game.
From this page, you'll be able to access:
- Introduction: where your terrifying story is told
- Mission: where the rules of the game and the objective are explained
- Characters: you'll be able to see the brave adventurers that have dares to solve this mystery.
- Start: when you click on this button, you'll enter the house from which you'll never be able to escape.
What to edit and how to edit the start page
On this page, you'll be able to edit the introduction, the mission, and the characters.
On this page you'll be able to modify the text that appears by default and place your audience in the scene by telling them what happened in the house.
Like with the Introduction, you'll be able to edit the text that appears to establish the objectives and rules of the game.
On this page, you'll be able to replace the images of the characters with your players as well as add their name and a brief biography.
2. The Mission
The objective of this game is to enter the house to complete a series of challenges that allow you to solve the mystery presented to you and finally, leave the house sane and safe.
This mission is divided into four main goals:
- Find the key to enter the house
- Challenge on the first floor
- Challenge on the ground floor
- Final challenge
Find the key to enter the house
When you click on Start, your adventure will begin. The first thing you should do is find the key so you can enter the house. You have a flashlight to illuminate the page until you stumble upon the key.
How to edit this page
The first thing you should have in mind is that you're working with a set of contrasts where you'll find three layers: a background of a given color, a layer with a complementary color (in this case the light of the flashlight), and a final layer of the same color as the background (the key, in this case).
To put the layers in order, select the elements and use the layer depth option on the toolbar (in the template, they're already in order). You can, of course, change the location of the key.
Once you've activated drag mode and locked all of the elements besides the light, you'll be able to move the light to place it behind the key. This will create contrast, making it possible to see the key.
Once you find the key, click on it. Then, you'll be able to enter the house where you'll find two routes, one which leads to the first floor and another one on the ground floor.
Challenge on the first floor
Once inside of the house, you'll need to go up to the first floor, since to access the parlor on the ground floor, you'll first need to complete a challenge on the floor above it.
Find the clues that are hidden in this room and that reveal information you need to be able to continue the game.
Like at the beginning of the game, you should use the flashlight to find the first clue.
This clue will help you find out the correct combination of piano keys, which when played correctly, will give you the second code so you can advance.
How to edit the first floor
1. First, edit the text of the numeric code which will help establish the combination of piano keys to be played after.
By default, the result should be three digits long, though it can be edited to have more or less. That will affect the number of pages you need when it's time to set the combination of piano keys to be clicked on.
2. Secondly, edit the combination of the piano keys in accordance to the result you've chosen in the numeric code.
You'll find a keyboard covered by an invisible area that's linked to the error page. So if you press a wrong key, you'll need to start over.
Layered on this area, you'll find another layer on top of the correct keys. Remember that the layer should match to be over the keys you decide are correct with your numeric code. Move this area to place it on the correct numbers for your combination. Since the result is made up of three digits, you'll need to move this area in each of the three pages, one per number.
You'll also need to change the color of the number to show that the player has chosen correctly.
3. Once the combination has been solved, you'll be able to get the clue which will allow you to advance.
This clue should include a code which you'll need in the following challenge. Of course, this text can be edited as you like in the Editor.
Challenge on the ground floor
Once you've gotten the clue from the previous challenge, you'll be able to continue the terrifying adventure. Now you'll be able to access the parlor of the ground floor that was closed off before.
You'll find an empty room with a typewriter where you should write, guess what?... exactly! The code you found before.
How to edit this page
The process is similar to the editing of the piano. You'll see an invisible area over all the keys of the machine which is linked with an error page, and you'll also see an area on top of that one that leads you down the correct path.
So, you'll need to place the small area on the keys that coincide with the code obtained on the first floor. You should also move the bloody fingerprint to show the player that they're correct.
When you write the code correctly, something terrible will happen. The curse placed on the house will find you, and to escape it, you'll need to solve a final round of questions and answers. If you answer correctly, you'll be able to escape, and if not... nothing will be able to save you.
How to edit the pages
Just substitute the text on the page for your questions and answers. The answers are linked with the following page if correct and with the error page if incorrect. You can change the order easily, and the linking will remain the same.
3. Final Page
Once you've correctly answered the final round of questions, you'll have escaped the curse and you'll be able to leave the house or perhaps... you'd like to enter again...
On this page, you'll be able to edit the text shown to congratulate the fearless adventurers that dared to enter.
